Texel is the largest Wadden island, reached by the TESO ferry from Den Helder in 20 minutes. The island is made for cycling: flat roads, forests, dunes and seven villages within reach. Pick up your rental bike in Den Helder and roll it straight onto the ferry.
From 't Horntje it's 30 minutes to Den Burg, 45 minutes to De Koog and a single day around the whole island — a loop of around 60 km past the lighthouse, sheep farms and beaches. For shorter rides the Slufter route is ideal.
